Repost for your vacation read!!!
Reviews are off-the-hook amazing for today’s guest, Julie Berry, with her new novel, “Lovely War.” And deservedly so! Blending real historical events and figures with achingly real fictional characters and a touch of magic, LOVELY WAR is a true original. Hazel, James, Aubrey, and Colette. A classical pianist from London, a British would-be architect-turned-soldier, a Harlem-born ragtime genius in the U.S. Army, and a Belgian orphan with a gorgeous voice and a devastating past. Their story, as told by the goddess Aphrodite, who must spin the tale or face judgment on Mount Olympus, is filled with hope and heartbreak, prejudice and passion, and reveals that, though War is a formidable force, it’s no match for the transcendent power of Love. Julie shares how she came up with the idea, how deeply she went into her research was of WW I. Her writing compelled me to turn the pages but not before absorbing the detail she put on them, the lyrical writing. As Lovely War is dubbed a Young Adult novel, I would beg to differ… it’s an every age novel! julieberrybooks.com
