Her Crooked Heart, 3/5/2020

It’s always a treat to be able to feature live music on All-Wheel Drive, but today included cello and flute and clarinet! (In addition to guitar and voice and absolutely lump-in-the-throat inducing harmonies). In advance of their FREE song circle tonight at the Northfield Arts Guild Theater, I welcomed Her Crooked Heart (aka Rachel Ries on vocals and guitar) along with bandmates (and amazing musicians in their own right) Hilary James (cell/vocals), Hannah Hebl (flute/vocals) and Addie Strei (clarinet/vocals). Lovely music and solid conversation all around.

In addition to tonight’s event, the four women are part of an artistic residency currently happening with the (very lucky) students at Arcadia Charter School here in Northfield, culminating with a not-to-be-missed performance of music, dance and spoken word on Friday, March 13 at 7 pm.

Rachel, Hillary, Hannah and Abbie performed two songs — “Adrian” and “Adderall” — and we wrapped up the segment with “Courthouse,” a track from Her Crooked Heart’s latest album release, To Love To Leave To Live.
