Northfield Historical Society closing today at 5pm – offer tips on keeping a journal of this history

The Northfield Historical Society will close to the public today (Tuesday) at 5 pm following the Governor’s order to help stop the spread of COVID-19. This closure will be in effect until at least March 29. The Board of Directors will be monitoring the situation and will extend the closure if there is a need. Limited research services may be available during this time. Contact the museum by email with your queries.

Please take care of yourselves and your loved ones.

Here are some suggestions of historical things to do during this uncertain time:

1. Keep a journal. Write down your thoughts and feelings on what’s taking place around you. When the crisis is over, consider donating the journal to the museum. We’re creating a COVID-19 archive for future generations.

  1. Go online and check out the great digital resources NHS has to offer.

  1. Read up on the 1876 James-Younger Gang bank robbery.Shot All To Hell  and The Outlaw Youngers are fascinating reads but there are many, many others to choose from.

  1. Explore Ancestry.com and trace your family’s origins.

We can’t wait to be able to open the doors and invite you all back

into the museum when this crisis is finished!
