One woman charged in connection with multiple overdoses

A Faribault woman suspected of being involved in multiple overdoses is in jail. On May 17th around 2:30 in the morning, Faribault Police, Fire, and EMS were called to an overdose at 521 3rd Street NW. This was the third of four overdoses in the City in about a 24 hour period and the 2nd overdose reported at that address in the previous 6 hours. According to the criminal complaint, when officers arrived, they found a male down in the kitchen with a purple face, distressed breathing and unconscious. Officers administered three doses of NARCAN before EMS arrived. He was transported to the hospital. Later that evening, law enforcement spoke with the victim back at the home. He identified 20 year old Kylie Rose Brooks as being the person who gave him the drug, which he believed to have been pure fentanyl. Drug Task Force agents noted that the description of the drug is

consistent with ongoing investigations which include a mix of fentanyl and heroin. Brooks is charged with 3rd degree drug sale, which carries up to 20 years in prison and Great bodily harm caused by distribution of a schedule one drug which carries up to 10 years. Her bail has been set at $50,000 with conditions. Her court appearance is June 6th.

They aren’t congregating, but they are celebrating. Northfield High School Seniors will be in the history books as they virtually graduate on Sunday. Superintendent Dr. Matt Hillmann said the Seniors (for the first time ever) are being asked to decorate their caps, take photos and their will be prizes! Additionally they’re asking grads to take their cell phone and take a 5 second video of themselves as they wave to the camera, moving their tassle or throwing their cap in the air. Neuger Communications is producing the ceremony which will air on KYMN at 2pm on Sunday. The graduates will pick up their diplomas curbside after the ceremony. Hillmann said, “we just want the Class of 2020 to know we are so proud of their accomplishment and nothing can erase the previous 12 and 3/4 year’s worth of their work at Northfield Public Schools”
