Water Rescue – Shager Park Beach

Date/Time of Incident: 07/04/2020 @ 1336 Hours 

Incident Description:  Water Rescue 

Location of Incident:  Shager Park Beach 22399 Dalton Avenue, Warsaw Twsp

Victim Information: Edelgard Mejia 46 YOM

Description of Incident:  

On 7/04/2020 at approximately 1336 hours Rice County Deputies were dispatched

to Cannon Lake on a report of a possible drowning. Edelgard Mejia of Owatonna was swimming at the beach when he started showing signs of distress and disappeared under water. Mejia’s family members and bystanders quickly located him in approximately five feet of water and pulled him to shore and started CPR. 

First responders arrived and provided care to the victim whom was unresponsive. Mejia was transported by Air Ambulance to North Memorial Medical Center where his condition is unknown at this time. 

Rice County Deputies were assisted at the scene by Faribault Police, Minnesota State Patrol, Faribault Fire Department, North Ambulance and North Memorial Air Care.  Media Release04242020- Water Rescue
