Craig wants trade school options for students
2nd District Congresswoman Angie Craig was in Northfield last Friday talking with local small businesses including KYMN. She stopped by our studios and talked with Jeff Johnson who asked whether there would be another round of help, like PPP, for small businesses, she said, “I think the virus is going to determine that. I mean if we don’t have a vaccine, if small businesses continue to be impacted I think we’re going to have to do something for small businesses in this country”. She added that there’s a disconnect between big business, who’s actually done pretty well during this, which is reflected in the stock market, but small business is the economy of the 2nd District. While on the air, Craig discussed the need to prioritize vocational training, saying, “before the pandemic, one of my top three priorities was really around career and technical education, trade schools. It’s making sure that we are giving kids that option back in high school. That we’re not feeding every kid this line that you have to have a 4 year degree”. Her oldest son is a Machinist II. She said it’s important that kids know there are more options.
