Nfld Chamber updates on CARES funding and Candidate forums

From Lisa Peterson, President of Northfield Chamber of Commerce:

I have a couple of very important updates for you this week!

  1. Businesses and nonprofits looking for financial relief due to COVID-19 can apply for CARES Act funding through the City of Northfield.
Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act provides for payments to state, local and tribal governments navigating the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak. The City of Northfield received approximately $1.5 million through the federal CARES Act. The Northfield City Council is allocating $300,000 in grants for businesses and $200,000 in grants for nonprofits.  To use the CARES Act funds, the expenses must be accrued between March 1 and December 30, 2020. Applications to the City must be received between September 8 and 30, 2020.  LEARN ABOUT THE CARES ACT FUNDING
  2. You are invited to the 2020 Election Candidate Forums sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Northfield and Cannon Falls, Academic Civic Engagement Office of St. Olaf College, Center for Community & Civic Engagement at Carleton College, and Northfield Area Chamber of Commerce on September 26 and October 3, 2020.  CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION
  3. The NDDC is asking all individuals who live or work in or near Northfield, MN, to share their thoughts on Northfield’s Downtown in an online survey. All survey input will be anonymous. The survey will take approximately five minutes to complete, and will be live from Monday, September 14 through Wednesday, September 30CLICK HERE FOR MORE INFORMATION
