Peterson

here will be a new City Clerk in town. Lynette Peterson addressed Northfield City Councilors last week, “I’m very excited. Thank you for the appointment. I’m very excited to start in Northfield. I know I have big shoes to fill with Deb, she’s been here a long time. I’m looking forward to a very smooth transition and I look forward to working with you all”Administrator Martig introduced her, “Ms Peterson has a diverse work background with over 21 years of experience as a municipal city clerk. She is currently a city clerk for the City of Excelsior where her primary duties included management of elections, business licenses, council agenda meeting taking. Certainly similar type of work that we’ll be having here just on a larger scale”. Additionally, she, “served as administrative support specialist to Nicollet County administrator for over 5 years which is a very similar type of role and she has many years of experience as deputy clerk for the City of North Mankato”Council voted unanimously to approve the appointment. Deb Little will be retiring after the Elections and after nearly 35 years of service with the City of Northfield.

Law Enforcement and Hope Center work together on Domestic Violence issues

October is domestic violence awareness month. Law enforcement has a big role in these situations. Rice County Sheriff Troy Dunn said, “domestic violence is always a difficult thing to see because you see what families go through, how families are injured and traumatized and everything else. And we are so blessed to have The Hope Center here in Rice County”. He said numbers are showing, with the pandemic, that those who may want to leave an abusive partner are finding it harder and, “they’re seeing that maybe domestic violence is happening more frequently because these people cannot get away for whatever reason they can’t go to a hotel or whatever it may be”Dunn urged the community to look out for friends and family members if you think they may be a victim of a toxic relationship. Law enforcement works collaboratively with The Hope Center, which offers a number of avenues to get help for the victim. Dunn said his aim is to change the behavior of the abuser. Hope Center Director Erica Staab will be on the air with Jeff Johnson Thursday morning at 8:45.
