HomeTown Credit Union joined numerous credit unions across the state of Minnesota on Monday, October 12 to participate in CU Forward Day 2020. This day is a state-wide initiative of credit unions coming together to spread kindness and celebrate the people-helping-people industry.
In previous years, HomeTown has spent the day volunteering, offering CPR courses at their branches, and cleaning up local parks.
This year, in light of the COVID pandemic, HomeTown noticed two areas that were in dire need of uplift and support – school employees and local food shelves. They made these the focus of their initiatives.
Staff at all three HomeTown branches came together to share encouraging messages and thank-you notes with school employees throughout the various counties they serve. They also delivered treats and socially distanced smiles in the hopes of reminding school employees that they are appreciated and valued. Additionally, HomeTown made charitable donations to all three local food shelves in Owatonna, Faribault, and Northfield to help those who need food assistance during these uncertain times.
All HomeTown branches were closed Monday, October 12 to thank staff for their hard work this year and also provide time to give back.
With Community as one of their core values, HomeTown is always striving to engage with and assist members with whatever financial needs they may have. Participating in CU Forward Day gave HomeTown another wonderful opportunity, outside of the day-to-day banking world, to make a positive difference in all the communities they serve.
