Northfield Superintendent of Public Schools Dr. Matt Hillmann posted a letter today to the families of Northfield students aged 16 and 17, offering help on where to find opportunities to get their child vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine.
In his letter Hillmann pointed out the Northfield Hospitals & Clinics has expanded their vaccination parameters to include 16-17year olds. NH&C is running two vaccination clinics each week. The phone number to call to make a vaccination appointment is 507-646-8019 on weekdays from 8:00 am-4:30 pm. Translators are available.
Another option Hillmann laid out to receive the Pfizer vaccine is the CUB Food Pharmacy. Appointments there can be made by calling by calling 855-282-3663. And, Hillmann said, the Minnesota Department of Health is prioritizing 16- and 17-year-olds and their parents at Minnesota’s Mall of America Community Vaccination Site
Also, this Thursday, April 29, Rice County Public Health will be offering a vaccination clinic for people 18-and-older at the Northfield Community Education Center (the former Greenvale Park Elementary School) from 4 pm-7 pm. To register scroll down to the ‘Make an Appointment’ prompt on the page.
His letter also recommended the State of Minnesota Vaccine Connector and the Vaccine Spotter website to secure appointments at pharmacies throughout the state.
While calling vaccination the most effective tool there is in the battle against Covid-19, he also said that students are not required to be vaccinated.
“Vaccination is a personal choice. The district wants to make sure families have the resources to access vaccination if desired.”
Dr. Hillmann thanked district families for their continued support and cooperation during the pandemic.
