ArtZany: Matt Wehling, Bow Maker 05-06-2022

Today in the ArtZany Radio studio Paula Granquist welcomes internationally renowned (and Northfield resident) bow maker Matt Wehling to discuss his strings story, the art of bow making, and preview his upcoming SEMAC (Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council) grant Capstone Event.

Violin bow maker Matt Wehling (finebows.com) will give a presentation on the history of the modern violin bow and the potential integration of modern tools into this traditional art.

Violinist Rolf Haas (content.thespco.org/people/rolf-haas/), a frequent guest musician with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra who has Northfield ties, will be on hand to demonstrate how different bows can drastically alter the tone of a violin.

“This activity is made possible through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts & cultural heritage fund.”
