Prepare to be whisked away on the adventure of a lifetime as the Guild Theater brings Neverland to Northfield with the Tony Award-winning play, Peter and the Starcatcher – directed by Rachel Haider with music direction by Peter Webb, and choreography by Mary Hahn.
Peter and the Starcatcher is a raucous romp of a comedy by Rick Elice, a theatrical adaptation of the 2004 novel “Peter and the Starcatchers” by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. This humorous and fantastical story of what happened before Peter Pan met Wendy is a grown-ups prequel to Peter Pan.
In this imaginative play, we meet pirates, mermaids, lost boys, and others who set out for adventure filled with the immense possibility and dreams critical to great theatrical storytelling. We meet a poor orphaned child on the high seas simply called Boy because, in the absence of a mother and a father, he was never given a name. His sad and lonely world is turned upside down when he meets the starcatcher apprentice, Molly. The daughter of famous Starcatcher Lord Aster, our heroine is on a mission to save the world and protect a treasure trunk filled with magical star stuff from getting into the hands of the evil and greedy pirate, Black Stache. As they travel aboard the ship called Neverland on a perilous high seas adventure, Molly and Boy learn about love, friendship and forge an unbreakable bond.
