Updated Closings & Delays for 1/4/2022 – Northfield Public Schools are closed Wednesday, January 4th

The KYMN listening are received more than four inches of snow overnight. Because of that there are several school closings and delays.

Northfield Public Schools ar closed today
Northfield Public Schools are closed once again today, however Northfield Superintendent of schools Dr. Matt Hillmann said this will be an eLearning Day. Hillman said while the city streets are plowed and are in decent shape, rural areas have not yet been well plowed, and both he and John Benjamin of Benjamin bus agree that it would be unsafe to transport students at this time.

Hillmann said he was disappointed to cancel school for a second consecutive day, but reiterated that today will be the first eLearning Day of the season.

Randolph, Tri-City United, Cannon Falls, Farmington Public Schools closed
Elsewhere, Randolph Public schools are closed today, Cannon Falls has announced a distance Learning Day, Tri-City Untied Public Schools are closed today, and Farmington schools are closed today as well.

Faribault Public Schools and Kenyon Wanamingo Public schools are on a two-hour delay.

The Northfield Area YMCA has canceled all group exercise classes and any other scheduled programming, however the facility is open for regular hours from 5am-8pm.

Fifty North is closed today. All classes are canceled.

City of Northfield – Snow Emergency:
The City of Northfield has declared a snow emergency effective 3 p.m. January 3 until 9 a.m. January 6.

During a snow emergency there is no parking on any city street until it is plowed curb-to-curb and the weather system has passed. Vehicles parked on the street will be ticketed with the potential of being towed during a snow emergency.

Trash and recycling bins are not allowed on city streets.

When downtown parking lots are scheduled for snow removal there is no parking within them from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. All downtown parking lot permit holders must park in the proper lots during a snow emergency.

• Residential streets will be plowed on January 3, 4 and 5
• Downtown snow removal will be on January 5 and 6
• Snow removal in all downtown parking lots will be on January 7
