On Tuesday, August 27th, at approximately 7:40 p.m., local law enforcement and paramedics responded to a car accident on 30th Street West in Webster Township. According to a press release from the Rice County Sheriff’s Office, a Ford F-150 pickup collided with a GMC Sierra pickup. Brantly Ryan McCarty, 14, a passenger in the F-150, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Impairment is not believed to be a factor in the crash. Their seat belt use is unknown at this time.
“Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones affected by this tragic incident,” said Rice County Sheriff Jesse Thomas.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, and authorities urge anyone with information about the incident to contact the Rice County Sheriff’s Office at 507-334-0268.
The Minnesota State Patrol, Scott County Sheriff’s Office, Elko-New Market Rescue, Northfield Ambulance, and Elko-New Market Police Department assisted on scene. The Rice County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Minnesota State Patrol with the crash reconstruction.
