Later in the weekend, on Sunday afternoon, Valley Grove Church will be hosting their annual Country Social Event. Valley Grove Church is a pair of historic Lutheran churches in rural Nerstrand, with the first church built in 1862 and the second church built in 1894. In the 1970s, the Valley Grove Preservation Society was formed to preserve the two churches, which now serve as a place primarily for weddings and a Candlelight Christmas Eve Service.
The country social is one of the group’s annual events. From 1pm to 2:30pm, music from St. Olaf musicians will perform inside the wooden church. There will also be Scandinavian music outside of the church as well. Author and historian Jeff Sauve will lead two history strolls, first at 1:30pm and another 2:30pm. Horse Drawn Wagon rides and other activities will be available throughout the event.
All are welcome. The event is free, but any donations are appreciated.
