Dakota County Proposes Construction of Two Roundabouts; First Public Feedback Session Tonight

By Logan Wells, News Director | Logan@kymnradio.net

After conducting a Rural Intersection Assessment, Dakota County is looking at installing roundabouts in Waterford and Hampton Township. The roundabouts would be at County Road 86 and Highway 3 and at County Road 86 and Highway 56. Based on the traffic levels at these intersections, the vehicle crash history, and the types of crashes the county believes that roundabouts in these two locations would greatly improve safety. Both would be a single lane roundabout.

The current project timeline is to have public engagement throughout the fall, in spring the final design will be proposed, and land acquisition will happen next summer. The county would like to start construction in 2026.

Tonight the Dakota County will be holding its first public feedback session from 4:30pm to 6:30pm at St. Marks Lutheran Church of Randolph. If you can not attend their will be other feedback sessions, you can also complete an online form to provide feedback by clicking here.
