Northfield area voters will have two opportunities this year to hear from local candidates directly in forums hosted in Northfield.
The League of Women Voters will be hosting a debate throughout Saturday, with many of the different local offices in the area. Starting at 9am will be candidates for Rice County Board of Commissioners, followed by the candidates for Northfield Mayor and City Council At Large at 10:15am, the candidates for Northfield City Council Wards 2 and 3 at 11:30am, and Northfield School Board at 1pm.
Audience members can submit questions in writing at the event, per the published Forum Rules. By League of Women Voter policy, the identity of the person asking the question is confidential.
The forum will take place in the Viking Theater of Buntrock Commons at St. Olaf College. The Northfield Chamber of Commerce will host a Northfield city-specific forum on Thursday, October 3rd. At 5:30pm there will be a Northfield Mayoral candidate and at 6:30pm there will be a forum for all of the candidates for Northfield City Council. Questions can be sent to info@northfieldchamber.com, and requests for ASL or Spanish interpretation can be made to Jane@northfieldchamber.com both of those are due on October 1st, at noon. The forum will take place at Arcadia Charter School and will be live on Zoom as well. KYMN’s Logan Wells will be one of the co-moderators for the forum as well.
Both events are free and open to the public for all to learn about their local elections.
