By Logan Wells, News Director | Logan@kymnradio.net

Healthy Community Initiative announced recently that the current Executive Director, Sandy Malecha intends to step down from her current role to “welcome in a new forward-thinking executive to lead HCI into its next phase.” Malecha joined HCI in 2014 and while the organization was struggling to recover from the pandemic she accepted the role as Interim Executive Director which was made permanent last summer. In her tenure as Executive Director Malecha helped stabilize HCI’s funding and reorganize the staff structure to better serve the organization.

The Board of Directors of HCI has already assembled a hiring committee and is seeking applicants. The board described the ideal candidate as someone who is “already connected to Rice County and keen to be active, or more active, in the community.”
