The deadline for local nonprofits to submit a grant application with Northfield Shares is tomorrow, October 4th.
Northfield Shares is a local foundation that looks to support local programs and non-profit organizations by encouraging philanthropism, volunteering, and promoting collaborative leadership.
Grants through Northfield Shares are judged on specific criteria. A project will be evaluated based on need in the community, feasibility, and the ability of the organization to achieve the project’s goal. Organizations are evaluated on the assistance they offer to sustain a “thriving, equitable community for all residents,” and their ability to create the broadest possible range of help.
Northfield Shares Executive Director Carrie Carroll said the foundation tends to favor projects and organizations that involve volunteers, and collaborative projects from multiple organizations. But with that said, she encouraged any nonprofit with a need to apply.
“It really depends on who applies and what the committee. We have a beautiful committee of community members that review all the applications, they weigh them, they look at them, what’s really going to make the biggest impact in this town, where there’s collaboration. We love to see our nonprofits partnering with each other so we can we double down on dollars, if you will, to really grow the impact in the area.” – Northfield Shares Executive Director Carrie Carroll on the KYMN Morning Show
Grant applicants should have a goal, the ability to maintain and enhance the overall well-being of the Northfield community. They should have the ability to manage the funds granted and deliver on the proposal.
Carroll said the organization is especially keen to help smaller nonprofits that are just getting off the ground with grants of $500-$1000, but larger grant requests for established nonprofits will be considered as well.
Applications will be reviewed by the Northfield Shares Grants Committee which will then make its recommendations to the Board of Directors for final approval. Grant recipients will be announced in November and the funds will be distributed at the Northfield Shares Annual Meeting in December.
Grant applications can be found on the organization’s website at northfieldshares.org, and should be submitted online. Carroll said those needing help should contact the Northfield Shares office for assistance. Applications will be accepted until 11:59 tomorrow night.
