One of southern Minnesota’s largest art festivals takes place this weekend, the 20th Annual Studio ARTour begins this evening and goes through Sunday. The ARTour takes place across Northfield, Dundas, Faribault, and the surrounding rural area with 18 different studios and 33 different artists with work on display. There is an incredible range of work from weaving to welding, glass to gemstones, clay to carving, and paper in between
KYMN’s Paula Granquist on ArtZany said about the Studio ARTour that the artists are incredibly welcoming:
“And I think all the artists in the studio are so generous with if you have, if you’re curious about something, They always are so receptive to questions, whether they are they’ve heard them 5000 times or or, you know, teaching somebody something new or they find a colleague who who’s doing the same thing and just wants help with with something. “ – Paula Granquist on ArtZany
The only original artist still on the tour, Fred Somers, said that one of the reasons the tour was positive for artists was that they all work together:
Is the working with each other to help each other. You know that it wasn’t competition that we each were helping each other to grow. – Studio ARTour artist, Fred Somers on ArtZany
The tour is self-guided and free for anyone to attend. Art will be for sale at some studios. Today, about a quarter of the studios will be open tonight from 4pm – 8pm, will have them listed on our website. On Saturday the tour will be open from 10am to 6pm and on Sunday, the tour will be open from 10am to 5pm. We will have the map on our website showing the full list of all the different Artists.
