The Northfield City Council meets tonight for its last meeting before Election Day. The council only meets on the first 3 Tuesdays of the month, and with how the dates fall in October, and since the council meets on Tuesday night, they will not hold a meeting on Election Day during the first week of November. The council is now heading into four four-week break before their next regular meeting on November 12th.
Tonight’s agenda is a busy one, starting with the annual presentation of the Friends of Downtown Northfield group. They will discuss some of their work and collaborations this last year, including new public art downtown and the Third Thursdays Event. The Northfield Convention and Visitor Bureau, which promotes tourism in Northfield, will give its annual presentation.
On the regular agenda, the council will hear an update and provide feedback on the long-range plan for Sechler Park. The city will also approve the cost-sharing agreement with the City of Dundas for the new ice arena project.
The public is welcome to attend in person or watch online. You can watch online by going to northfieldmn.gov and then clicking the “Agenda & Minutes” button in the middle of the home page. From there, find tonight’s meeting date to watch, as well as a copy of the agenda and other meeting documents.
The listening session for the public to provide feedback to the city government starts at 6pm and the regular meeting starts at 6:30pm tonight in the Council Chamber of City Hall.
