Activities for Kids in Northfield During MEA

By Logan Wells, News Director | Logan@kymnradio.net

Tomorrow is the beginning of MEA break for students across Minnesota. While teachers attend the state’s largest conference and training event, students will get a break from school on Thursday and Friday. While many families take MEA as an opportunity to go on vacation, for those staying in Northfield there are several events for kids and for the whole family.

The Northfield Public Library will be hosting several events. On Thursday, the library will have games for kids ages 6 to 11 in the Bunday Room from 1pm to 3pm. On Friday, the Library will be hosting a puzzle-building event; drop in between 10 to 11:30am to help build a large community puzzle.

The Library Oasis will be hosting several events on Thursday. At 11 a.m., there will be Slightly Spooky Story Time geared for kids ages 2-6. From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., the Oasis will have board games for kids ages 6-11. The Oasis is inside the Northfield Community Resource Center. All of the library’s events are free.

Explore a 6-acre corn maze, and there is also a smaller maze for younger kids. Other activities include hayrides, barnyard animals, and games. The pumpkin patch will also be available to find the perfect pumpkin, or you can select one of the pre-picked pumpkins. Admission to the event costs $10.
