Friends of the Library Host Annual Trivia Been Contest This Friday

By Logan Wells, News Director | Logan@kymnradio.net

On Friday, The Friends and Foundation of the Northfield Library will host their annual Team Trivia Bee contest to raise funds for the library. Organizer Bill North shared the mission of the foundation:

“Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a group to support them with fundraising or volunteer work? And so the library friends of the library got started in the early 80s and we continue to be essentially on that mission. So we we have a fantastic library.” – Bill North on the KYMN Morning Show

The trivia contest started in 2011 and past funds from the trivia contest have helped pay for the Bookmobile and the Book Bike, the Library Oasis at the Northfield Community Resource Center, along with other small items to help improve the library. When asked what questions to prepare for North shared some advice:

“I think that it’s a Northfield event. It’s a library event, and so in some ways I think there will always be questions that kind of. Encourage people to think about, like, collect what they know. Sure about the Northfield and things related to the library. And that’s that’s a big category at this point.” – Bill North on the KYMN Morning Show

Beyond that, North said that the questions could focus on various topics, including history, politics, sports, or Marvel characters.

Teams of up to four members are welcome to register and compete in the contest, which consists of multiple rounds with no elimination. The contest is written and hosted by Jessica Peterson White. The early bird registration can be completed online for $100 by Thursday or regular registration in person Friday evening for $120. Winners will receive prizes and the acclaim of Trivia mastery. You can register online here: https://ffnpl.wildapricot.org/page-1726556

Donations at the door are also requested, this year the foundation’s goal is to raise $2,000 from the event.

The event starts Friday at 7pm at The Grand Events Center, doors open at 6:30pm.
