Deputy Sheriff ’s Association again offering scholarships in late sheriff ’s name

The Rice County Sheriff’s Office is again announcing that a memorial scholarship for late Rice County Sheriff Dave Schweisthal is again being offered to Rice County Students who are pursuing a law enforcement career. Schweisthal, who retired in 1997, was sheriff for 17 of his 33-year career with the Rice County Sheriff’s Office. His family created the scholarship, and those funds have been matched by the Rice County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, which allows two $1,000 scholarships. 

To qualify, applicants must be current or former residents of Rice County. They should also be enrolled in a law enforcement program at an accredited school seeking an associate degree in law enforcement, a bachelor’s degree in law enforcement or criminal justice, or a law enforcement certificate or skills program. Applications include a personal information page, essay responses, and reference form. Will have the application listed on our website KYMN Radio DOT net

Applications are due on November 15th and can be turned in at 118 Third St. NW, Faribault, MN 55021; after October 28th, applications should be turned in to the new Public Safety Center at 50 East View Dr., Faribault. Monday-Friday 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
