The Northfield School Board meets tonight for its regular meeting at 6 p.m. However, before that will be the public hearing and presentation of the World’s Best Workforce Report at 5:15 p.m.
The World’s Best Workforce is a set of Minnesota requirements passed in 2013 to ensure that every school district in the state is making strides to increase student performance. Each district must develop a plan to address five goals and then hold a public hearing about their progress toward the goals once a year. The goals include:
- All children are ready for school
- All third graders can read at grade level
- All racial and economic achievement gaps between students are closed
- All students are ready for career and college
- All students graduate from high school
In addition the Northfield Achievement and Integration Plan will be presented to show the program’s goals of increasing racial and economic integration, increase student achievement, create equitable educational opportunities, and reduce academic disparities based on students’ backgrounds.
Following the World’s Best Workforce Presentation will be the regular school board meeting. On the agenda is a presentation by Spring Creek Interim Principal Tania Will who will talk about the past year of elementary school and the focus areas going forward. The committee will then adopt a series of policies
