On Monday, at the Northfield School Board meeting, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Matt Hillmann was given the 2024 Most Supportive Administrator of the Year Award. The award is given by the Minnesota Community Education Association and recognizes administrators who champion community education programs and demonstrate exceptional support for community-driven education initiatives.
This was not the only award Northfield schools received Monday night, the MN Community Education Association Project Award was also given to Northfield for The Grove at the Community Education Center (NCEC). The Grove is an indoor playground space inside the community education center. The MCEA Project Awards highlight the innovative and impactful initiatives undertaken by dedicated community educators. These projects serve as examples of excellence and inspire others to continue pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved through community education. Hillmann said that The Grove was the last step in creating a world-class early learning center:
“And for those people who remember the old Greenvale Park Elementary School, that is now the NCC, if you remember where the Media Center was in the center of the. Building that has been turned into an indoor playground. That was a cooperative project with the Minnesota Children’s Museum, and it is really a one-of-a-kind thing that’s available in our early childhood center. And so just innovative, thoughtful and a place of pure joy”. – Superintended of Schools Dr. Matt Hillmann on the KYMN Morning Show
Congratulations to the Northfield Community Education Center staff and Dr. Hillmann for their respective awards and thank you for your commitment to education in Northfield.
