This weekend is the last opportunity to see this year’s edition of the Northfield Arts Guild Holiday Show. This year, the holiday show consists of two shows: a holiday music performance and a one-act comedy: Christmas Thieves.
The play, Christmas Thieves, takes place in small-town Minnesota, and as Performing Arts Manager Pauline Jennings describes it, it has a lot of “Minnesotan humor.
“Yeah. I mean the whole setup is these British actors come over to do a show to try to raise money for this failing Small town Minnesota radio station. And then they get sick because they ate what they weren’t supposed to, which is lutefisk. Of course, that’s the setup, and then it just goes from there. And it’s hilarious. “ – Pauline Jennings with the Arts Guild on the KYMN Morning Show
Jennings noted that the one act is about 50 minutes long and that just didn’t feel long enough for an entire show:
“I guess we could have gotten away with it, but the so we decided to add holiday music to the first half. The first half is three groups playing different holiday music and then we go have intermission and then we go into.” – Pauline Jennings with the Arts Guild on ArtZany
The music acts consist of The Page Family Singers, Martha Larson, Brian Johnson and Helen Forsythe as a group, and Barbara Piper and Pauline Jennings as a group. Friday and Saturday’s show takes place at 7:30pm and Sundays show takes place at 2pm. Tickets cost $20 for adults and $16 for students and seniors. They can be purchased on the guild website, northfieldartsguild.org, and then click the “Theater and music tickets” button in the middle of the home page.
