The Rice County Salvation Army reached its fundraising goal for this bell-ringing season. Don Pavek with the local Salvation Army said that the countys goal was to raise $100,000. Of all the donations in the county, about $40,000 came from Northfield kettles this year. Pavek noted that Northfield had an impressive average amount raised each day and the importance volunteer bell ringers have for raising donations:
“And that really, it’s amazing we average. About $877, per day. And you know, when you lose a day and then and then that day locations we were down around $200.” [referencing a day with no bell ringers] – Don Pavek with the Rice County Salvation Army on the KYMN Morning Show
This year, rather than focusing on getting individuals to sign up for shifts, Pavek worked to have organizations and companies in Northfield sign up for shifts with much success:
“Like I said, of the total shifts I had 90 total shifts filled with people such as Rachel and the various locations. I’m just gonna recognize a few of the places that did. Lions Club, and Community Resource Bank did a couple of shifts. Rotary Club did several. Professional Pride Realty, the VFW, both men and the women, did shift. I mentioned Heritage Bank, Carlson Capital Management Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber did great they all dressed up in costumes.” – Don Pavek with the Rice County Salvation Army on the KYMN Morning Show
Local law enforcement agencies also held a competition to see who could raise the most funds. Pavek noted that the Northfield Police Department outraised the Rice County Sheriffs. However, the NPD also had a significantly busier location at Cub Foods.
Pavek thanked all the volunteers who bell rang and anyone who gave donations this year.
