This week, the Northfield Chamber of Commerce announced their annual awards and the details for their annual banquet. On Monday, Chamber President Jane Bartho announced that the Business Person of the Year is Elizabeth Spaulding of Soulstice Boutique. Bartho said about Spaulding.

“She’s been in business for six years, has a passion for making the world a better place from constantly directing customers to other shops in Northfield that might have what they’re looking for. To curating ethically sourced clothing and companies that are give back companies. Donating to charities that help the environment, the educations, women’s issues, etcetera. She’s passionate about her mission and loves supporting others who are also trying to make a change in our world.”  – Northfield Chamber President Jane Bartho on Chamber Chat

The Business of the Year is Petalina Mercantile Co. Located Downtown, Petalina is a marketplace selling different items from vendors in the Northfield area, Bartho stated that they are “the type of business that Northfield should be proud of.”

They have redeveloped the store to include a feeling of inclusion for all, showcasing regional community artists, along with adding their own merchandise they’ve donated to Minnesota, Zoo Prairies Edge Humane Society, hosted fundraisers for St. Olaf College, and sponsered Northfield Youth Baseball.”  – Northfield Chamber President Jane Bartho on Chamber Chat

The Ambassador of the Year, the person who best represents the community, is Aaron Nibbe of Frandsen Bank. Bartho said that while he has only been an ambassador for a little over a year, it has felt like he has been an ambassador much longer and that he has been a positive person in representing the chamber and recruiting new businesses to join.

The recipients will all be recognized at the Chambers Banquet on Thursday, January 23rd, at Armory Square. CEO and Publisher of the Minnesota Star Tribune, Steve Grove, will be the keynote speaker at the event. You can purchase tickets online in advance for $50 on the chamber website northfieldchamber.com. The VIP Social Hour starts at 5pm, and the Event and Dinner starts at 5:30pm.
