BREAKING NEWS: Water Treatment Plant Construction Contracts Rejected by the Northfield City Council

Previous Story (1/21/2025): A Summary of the Water Treatment Plant Project; Northfield City Council Set To Approve Construction Bids Tonight

After a nearly two and a half hour-long debate, the Northfield City Council voted 4 to 3 to reject all contracts for the construction of a new water treatment plant. The council this evening was asked to approve a construction contract for $61 million and the overall project is expected to cost $83 million, up from the city’s original projection in October of $55 million.

Councilors Jessica Peterson White, Kathleen Holmes, and Davin Sokup voted in favor of the project and Mayor Erica Zweifel, and Councilors Chad Beumer, Peter Dahlen, and Brad Ness voted against the project.
