The City of Northfield has announced that the outdoor skating rinks and warming houses are open for the season. With sustained temperatures below freezing public works crews have been busy flooding the rinks. The city maintains 7 outdoor ice rinks, at the rodeo grounds at Babcock Park and at the south entrance of Babcock, Greenvale Park Elementary School, Roosevelt Park, Washington Park, Way Park, and beside the Northfield Ice Arena.
All of the ice rinks have warming houses and lights that are on from approximately 4pm to 9pm. The warming houses at several of the rinks are new this year.
The ice rink at the rodeo grounds includes the popular 1,200-foot-long skating oval.
If you prefer to skate indoors the Northfield Ice Arena is available for open skating on most Mondays, Thursdays, and Sundays. The city recommends reviewing its website before going to see if open hours are available. Open skating costs $5, and to rent a pair of skates costs $4.
