Last week, the Northfield Public Library announced that the library is working to form a cookbook featuring dishes from the Latino community. The book, called The Northfield Cochina, will be a collaborative community-created cookbook highlighting the culinary arts of the Latino community here in Northfield. Director of Library Services, Natalie Draper, said the book will include the recipes, pictures, and stories:
“This is an incredibly diverse community and so local photographer Rio Perez will capture the dishes and their cooks for the cookbook. We’re going to do an exhibit of this work and this will diversify and expand the tradition of the Midwestern Community cookbook which were historically published by churches, women’s groups, and clubs, by placing Latino recipes in a cookbook that will sit alongside the shelves of cookbooks from throughout Northfield’s history, we help elevate and platform.” – Natalie Draper, Director of Library Services on the KYMN Morning Show
The book will be available in English and Spanish and will be published in October. The project is funded in part by a grant from Southeastern Libraries Cooperating
