Wall Street Road will be closed from 4th Street to Spring Creek Road starting today through April 15 to replace a box culvert bridge.
Detour signs will be posted directing traffic to Prairie Street, Woodley Street and Spring Creek Road.
This is phase 1 of 4 phases to improve Wall Street Road, which includes reconstructing the entire street and underground utilities, replacing the bridge, installing new sidewalks and trails, and improving pedestrian crossings. All phases of the project are expected to be completed by late November 2025.
In a statement from the city: “Northfield is committed to being forward-thinking by enhancing the quality of city streets for all Northfield residents. The City of Northfield urges motorists to always drive with caution, slow down in work zones, and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.”
The purpose of this project is to improve this transportation corridor, safety and mobility along the corridor, including pedestrian and bicyclists needs that are in line with the current City of Northfield’s adopted plans most notably the Complete Streets Policy and the Pedestrian, Bike, and Trail System Plan.
