From the National Weather Service Twin Cities/Chanhassen MN

KEY MESSAGES…

Blizzard conditions expected to continue across south central
and southeast MN into this morning due to the combination of
heavy snow and wind gusts of 40 to 45 mph.

– Significant travel impacts are linger through the morning commute
across southeastern MN/western WI (including the TC Metro).

– Strong winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph through this
afternoon.

School Closings:

Northfield Public Schools:
The Northfield Public Schools will be closed on March 5, 2025, due to the National Weather Service blizzard warning. All classes and activities are canceled for the day. This is our first e-Learning Day.

The Raider Boys Hockey Game:
The Raiders are set to take on Orono in the State Quarterfinals today. The fan bus scheduled to travel to the tournament has been canceled. High School administration will be sending information to the families shortly. The game is set to still be played, the team stayed the night in St. Paul.
You can listen to the game on KYMN Radio today at 1pm.

Faribault Public Schools:
Faribault Public Schools will have a Falcon Flex Day tomorrow, Wednesday, March 5, 2025

Cannon Falls Area Public Schools:
Schools Will be closed on March 5th. Cannon Kids is also closed.

Kenyon-Wanamingo Public Schools:
**3/5/2025 SCHOOL CLOSED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER**

Tri-City United Public Schools:
Tri-City United Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, March 5, due to inclement weather. There will be no Kidzone or Activities. It will be a blended learning day.

Farmington Public Schools:
All Farmington Area Public Schools will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday March 5, 2025 due to weather. This will be a Flexible Learning Day. Please visit www.farmington.k12.mn.us, for more information.

New Prague Public Schools:
New Prague Area Schools (PreK-12) will be closed on Wednesday, March 5, due to inclement weather. This will be a Blended Learning Day.

WRAP & Kids’ Company will be closed.

City of Northfield Snow Emergency:

The City of Northfield has declared a snow emergency effective 10:00 p.m. March 4 until 3:00 p.m. March 8.
During a snow emergency there is no parking on any city street until the weather system has passed and the street is plowed curb-to-curb, which requires equipment to plow the street multiple times. Vehicles parked on the street will be ticketed and may be towed.

Trash and recycling bins are not allowed on city streets.

When parking lots are scheduled for snow removal, there is no parking in the lots from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. All downtown parking lot permit holders must park in the city lots during a snow emergency.

Tentative plowing schedule (subject to change):

  • Residential streets: March 5
  • Downtown snow removal: March 6
  • Snow removal in all downtown parking lots: March 7

Other Closings:

Northfield City Hall:
City Hall including the DMV will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, March 5. The building will open at noon and close at its regular closing time at 4:30 p.m. Some offices may have limited staff, but all services will be open and operational.

Northfield Public Library:
The Northfield Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, March 5 from 9:00 a.m. to noon. The building will open at noon and close at its regular closing time at 8:00 p.m.

Northfield Municipal Liquor Store:
The Northfield Municipal Liquor Store will be open during their regular business hours but staff will monitor weather conditions and evaluate hours. If changes occur, they will update on their Facebook page.

FiftyNorth Senior Center:
For the safety of our members, volunteers, instructors, and staff, FiftyNorth will be closed on Wednesday, March 5.

Northfield Hospital & Clinics:
All clinics will open at 10:00 am on Wednesday 3/5.  This includes both Urgent Care locations, Orthopedics and Rehab Services. Our ER remains open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you have an emergency, please call 911 and allow extra time for them to arrive.

Northfield Area Family YMCA:
Will open today at noon

Community Action Center:
The CAC will open at Noon today.
