After 35 years of Northfield having no Future Farmers of America chapter, the program this year is seeing significant success. Previously, Northfield students traveled to Randolph for the FFA program, however, with interest in Northfield, it was decided to bring the program back. And as Superintendent of Schools Dr. Matt Hillmann described it, it has been a successful start of the program:
“And you know, we really just see that student leadership team, really amazing work. So for the first time in over 35 years, Northfield FFA has two state degree recipients.” – Northfield Schools Superintendent Dr. Matt Hillmann on the KYMN Morning Show
Among the awards include two FFA State Degree recipients: Keith Harner and Macy Mueller. Mueller also received first place in the Entrepreneurship Proficiency Poultry Production Award. Hector Villanueva received the Region VIII Sentinel Award and Josie Kuennen was the Northfield Chapter region delegate.
The state degrees recipients, proficiency award recipients and region officer selections were announced after an application process and interviews during the Region VIII Leadership Day on February 7.
“And so the fact that we’re really just a short time, you know, a couple years into this, a revamped FFA and seeing our students compete and be recognized at the regional level, we think just really speaks highly. Those students’ dedication and of course TJ Austin and all of the folks who have come to support our students.” – Northfield Schools Superintendent Dr. Matt Hillmann on the KYMN Morning Show
Congratulations to the Northfield FFA and to the students for all of their hard work.
