On March 5, 2025, at approximately 10am, the Rice County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a body found in Cannon Lake in Faribault, MN. Personnel from the Faribault Fire Department and the Rice County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the scene. Using cold water suits, they entered the open water and successfully retrieved the body of a deceased male, later identified as Troy Allen Krenz, 58, of Faribault.
According to a statement from Rice County, An investigation revealed that Mr. Krenz had gone fishing on the evening of March 4, 2025, sometime after 4:30pm. He failed to return home later that evening. Concerned family members and friends initiated a search, and at approximately 10am the following day, they located Mr. Krenz’s body floating in the lake.
The Rice County Sheriff’s Office, Rice County Dive Team, Faribault Fire Department, North Ambulance and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) responded to assist in recovering the body.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Rice County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the official cause of death
