This week, The Dundas City Council approved hiring an additional part-time police officer for the department. Dundas City Administrator Jenelle Teppen stated that the department is down one full-time officer, and they have struggled to find a person for the role:
“and just kind of the back story of that is we’ve we’ve been down a full time police officer since last june we’ve had the position posted since last june and while we’ve had a few applicants and we’ve done a few interviews none of them are know the the right person the right fit for our organization.” – Jenelle Teppen, Dundas City Administrator, on the KYMN Morning Show
The city has opted to supplement the department by hiring part-time officers to cover some of the available shifts. In November, the council approved the hiring of one part-time officer, and on Monday, a second part-time officer was hired. Teppen stated that the city will continue to work to fill all the staffing positions. You can learn more about the role and apply by going to cityofdundas.org and clicking the application page in the middle of the home page.
