Culture Crew Hosts Two Free Events This Week; Movie Night at the Grand & Story Hour at Armory Square

By Logan Wells, News Director | Logan@kymnradio.net

The Culture Crew, a collaboration between the Northfield Public Library, Northfield Arts Guild, and Northfield History Center, will have a busy week with two free events in the next few days.

The Culture Crew will host its annual movie night at The Grand tonight. Movie nights at the Grand happen every 3rd Monday of the month. Tonight’s movie is the 1980s comedy classic starring Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda, and Lily Tomlin: 9 to 5. The event is free, however, drinks and dinner will be available for purchase. Doors open for dinner at 5pm, at 6:15pm a locally produced short film will air and then at 6:30pm the main film will air and it will be the last call from the kitchen.

The next event is on Thursday, the Culture Crew will host Story Hour at Armory Square. The theme for stories this month is Fresh Start. Here is Director of Library Services Natalie Draper:

“This month it’s going to be a ton of fun and the theme is fresh. So again, kind of spring themed, so join us for some beverages for some storytelling for some community in a really cool space.” – Natalie Draper, Director of Library Services on the KYMN Morning Show

The event will feature six different storytellers. Pauline Jennings, the Performing Arts Director with the Arts Guild, shared the inspiration for the event:

“I’ve always been a lover of the Moth radio hour. I think that telling stories from the heart is one of the best ways to affect people and affect change, and get understanding where there may not be, and maybe to put some love in somebody’s heart that might be hating on somebody. I think that’s the best way to do it, so.” – Pauline Jennings, the Performing Arts Director of the Northfield Arts Guild on the KYMN Morning Show

The event starts with a Happy Hour in the Tiki Bar from 6pm to 7pm. At 7pm the storytelling will start in the LOW DOWN at Armory Square.

The event is free to attend, but registration is requested in advance. To register, go to the Northfield Public Library’s website, mynpl.org
