Book Fair Donations Open Today

By Logan Wells, News Director | Logan@kymnradio.net

The Northfield Ice Arena is set up and ready to accept book donations for the annual Hospital Auxiliary Book Fair.

Donations for the Northfield Hospital Auxiliary Book Fair begin today.  The event fills the Northfield Ice Arena with over 70,000 books, and the sale of which raises funds to support the Northfield Hospital. Event Organizer, Mark Heiman, states that the Auxiliary works with the hospital each year to determine what they want to raise funds for. In the past, they have raised $99,000 a year:

“Every year the auxiliary sits down with the hospital and says, OK, We Got so much money that we raised from the book fair. And do you have projects that you’ve identified that would be places that we could slot in and enhance the work that the hospital?” – Mark Heiman, Chair of the Northfield Hospital Auxiliary Book Fair on the KYMN Morning Show

In the past, the auxiliary has helped raise funds for scholarships, hospital equipment, and improvements to the hospital building and its surroundings.

Of course, donations are necessary for the book fair to exist, and the Auxiliary is looking for the books you’re not interested in. Among the items the fair will take are (non-moldy) books, CDs, LPs, DVDs, puzzles, and games. The fair is not looking for VHS tapes, cassettes, 78s, software, dictionaries, encyclopedias, magazines, and Reader’s Digest condensed books.

The donations take place at the Northfield Ice Arena; limited volunteers are available to help bring your books inside. But carts are available to help move boxes.

  • Sat (April 12th) 9am-1pm
