The Northfield Public Library invites home cooks from across the Latin American diaspora to share recipes and stories related to family culinary traditions.
Local photographer Rio Perez will capture the dishes and their cooks for the cookbook at two pre-set photoshoot dates. Participants will receive a copy of the cookbook and high-quality photos of themselves and their dishes. Library Director Natalie Draper stated that the goal is to create a cookbook that represents the cultural diversity of Northfield:

“This is an incredibly diverse community and so local photographer Rio Perez will capture the dishes and their cooks for the cookbook. We’re going to do an exhibit of this work and this will diversify and expand the tradition of the Midwestern Community cookbook which were historically published by churches, women’s groups, and clubs, by placing Latino recipes in a cookbook that will sit alongside the shelves of cookbooks from throughout Northfield’s history, we help elevate and platform.” – Natalie Draper, Director of Library Services on the KYMN Morning Show
Once completed, the book will be published in both English and Spanish, and a release party for it is planned for October.
We will have the interest form posted on our website today. The forum can be completed in English or Spanish, and the deadline for completing the form is May 1st. You can complete the form here.
