This past week, the City of Dundas released a statement in response to questions city leadership had been receiving about the water in the city, in particular, if Dundas had high levels of manganese like Northfield.
Dundas conducts annual testing of the city’s two wells, working with the Minnesota Health Department to test for over 100 different contaminants. The latest test was completed in July 2024. The results showed that Well one tested at 76 micrograms per liter (ug/L), and Well two tested at 32 ug/L, both under the state-recommended threshold for safe levels of manganese in tap water. A safe amount of manganese, according to the State Health Department, is less than 300 ug/L for adults and 100 ug/L for infants one year and younger.
The report also noted that Dundas’s water is clean overall, and there is no state recommendation for action at this time. Interested residents can see a copy of the drinking water report on the city’s website or pick one up at Dundas City Hall.
