Frankenstein opens tonight at Arcadia Charter School, and the classic show has some of Arcadia’s flair to it. Here’s the director of the show, Noah Schomburg:

“There’s an interesting juxtaposition between the aesthetic and the story. Narratively, it’s a huge bummer, and it’s a, super depressing story. But, like aesthetically and artistically, it’s a really fun production, and I think that the students here at Arcadia are able to serve both of those elements very well. The set design and the costuming and everything that I’ve had, you know, help reflect this kind of over-the-top vibrant style that you can only get from a story like this. But then you know the depth of their acting, really serves the tragedy that’s within the story and being able to do both of those things is extremely difficult.” – Noah Schomburg, Director of Frankenstein at Arcadia Charter School, KYMN News File
Ezra Warren, who is the monster in the performance, noted the difficulty of his role in the show:
“There’s that curiosity about the world and I really tried to convey that through my physical acting choices. And that has been very interesting for me because I’ve never done a role that’s so physical. Like this one is.” – Ezra Warren, Frankenstein’s Monster, KYMN News File
Elliot Fox-Deal, the student who performs as Dr. Frankenstein, noted how this show was different from many other performances and was one reason why he recommended seeing the show:
“One reason you should come to the show is simply the monster himself. I think that there’s very rarely a character that doesn’t have a lot of lines, is the opposite of eloquent, but it is such an interesting character such. A pivotal character to the story, you don’t get a lot of plays with that role”. – Elliot Fox-Deal, Dr. Frankenstein, KYMN News File
The show runs tonight, Friday night, and Saturday night, each at 7:15pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $8 for adults and $4 for students.
Arcadia is located at 1719 Cannon Road in Northfield.
