The Northfield School Board meets tonight with a wide range of agenda items, including several key items set to shape the district’s planning and operations for the coming school year.

Superintendent Dr. Matt Hillmann will present his 2024-25 end-of-year report, detailing progress on his focus areas, along with a legislative update from the recent session. He will also share recommendations from the Policy Committee regarding updates to student attendance procedures and the 2025-26 Student Citizenship Handbook.

The board is expected to approve the budget for the next school year. The school district’s budget is broken down into several funds, including the General Fund, Community Education Fund, and Child Nutrition Fund (Breakfast & Lunch), Construction Fund (The High School Reimagine Project), and the Debt Service fund. The budget cuts approved in April come from the General Fund only.

Additional action items include a one-year extension of the Benjamin Bus transportation contract—with a 2% increase.

The meeting will end with Informational updates, including the latest report on the Northfield High School construction project and the district’s final enrollment numbers for the 2024-25 school year.

With June the School Board will be shifting to its summer meeting schedule, down from 2 meetings to only one meeting a month until the school year.

If you are interested in attending the school board meeting, it is held in the District Office Board Room; use Door #2 located on the north side of the District Office on 2nd Street West. New tonight, in a cost-saving measure, the district will no longer live broadcast meetings on Zoom; instead, they will be broadcast live on the district’s YouTube page. The recordings will also be available afterwards on the district’s YouTube page.

Tonights meeting starts at 6pm
