After being nominated by the Holzes, Jeannette was recently selected as the national winner of the To Farmers with Love Contest, an award presented annually by Culver’s to deserving farmers across the United States. Jeannette received the grand prize of $5,000 to use on her farm along with an additional $5,000 to donate to an FFA Chapter of her choice. She selected the Northfield FFA chapter that chartered last year.

The Northfield Future Farmers of America (FFA Chapter) is receiving a boost thanks to a generous donation connected to a national award.

Jeannette Sheehan, a dairy farmer from Rochester, Minnesota, was recently named the grand prize winner of Culver’s “To Farmers with Love” Contest, which recognizes outstanding farmers across the country each year.

As part of her award, Sheehan received $5,000 for her dairy farm and another $5,000 to donate to an FFA chapter of her choice.

She selected Northfield’s FFA, a chapter that was established just last year and is already making a difference in the community.

Sheehan was nominated for the award by Chris Holz and his daughter, Jaelyn, from Northfield, who have experienced firsthand the impact of her work.

Each year, Sheehan leases about 25 dairy animals to young people in southeast Minnesota, giving them the opportunity to participate in county fairs and learn about agriculture. This program has opened doors for many city youth, allowing them to gain valuable experience and consider future careers in agriculture.

Sheehan and her family operate Sheeknoll Farms near Rochester, where they milk 55 cows, farm 900 acres, and manage an additional 250 cows with family partners.

They are known for showing their animals competitively and for sharing their best livestock with 4-H members, helping to inspire the next generation of agricultural leaders.

The donation to the Northfield FFA will be used for a community service project, continuing Sheehan’s commitment to investing in young people and the future of farming.

For many youth, the chance to lease animals from the Sheehans has meant more than just showing cattle — it has provided a sense of community and a pathway to new opportunities.
