Northfield Schools Remain Busy Through The Summer

By Logan Wells, News Director | Logan@kymnradio.net

School may be out, but that doesn’t mean the Northfield Schools aren’t busy this summer. According to school district staff, the community education is set to have 973 participants starting in 79 different recreation programs this week as well as 219 kids registered for the Kids Ventures program. School Superintendent Dr. Matt Hillmann stated that there are a wide variety of programs:

“So there are 149 private lessons already scheduled and things like Aquatics, basketball, tennis, and golf. So, quite a variety of activities” – Dr. Matt Hillmann, Superintendent of Schools on the KYMN Morning Show

Hilmann noted that they partner with several groups like the city and community organizations:

“We do our own in-house programs, our conduit for some other programs. In fact, we have 36 outside organizations running programs through Community Ed this summer. So like in the past, things like camp invention, those are, you know, programs that are not just unique to Northfield.” – Dr. Matt Hillmann, Superintendent of Schools on the KYMN Morning Show

Also remaining busy is the school district’s buildings and facilities department, which is taking the summer break to complete several projects. Will hear more about the different maintenance work being done on June 24th at 7:20am here on KYMN Radio from Buildings Director Justin Raabolle and Finance Director Val Mertesdorf
