The Riverwalk Market Fair is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. The fair, which started as an art fair, now includes farmers and food options, with over 45+ fair vendors each Saturday morning. Derek Meyers says that a fair of this size is unique for our community:

“For this community, I think it’s a rather large farmers market, first of all and it’s more than a farmers market, it’s, you know, an artist market. It’s a crafters market. We have folks. Talking about like nonprofit work that they’re doing in the community. So we’re also a space for other organizations to share their mission. We have really good youth booth program.” – Derek Meyers, Riverwalk Market Fair Manager on KYMN

Meyers said that in their 15th year, they are continuing to look to grow in programs and quality. This year, they are introducing a new program: a monthly fair at Greenvale, which takes place on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 3 pm to 6:30 pm.

“We just want to continue doing well with the things we’re already doing and the things we’re taking on this year and flush them out a bit. So that you know, we have funding for Farm to Families. And we can keep that food access program going so that we can make Greenvale a weekly Tuesday market so that, you know, the downtown market maybe grows a little bit more.” – Derek Meyers, Riverwalk Market Fair Manager on KYMN

You can hear the full conversation I had with Meyers and Riverwalk Board Member Betsy Wentz going behind the scenes of Riverwalk, including the logistics of the fair, food access programs, federal funding, and youth entrepreneur programs. That program airs today at 9 am and will be available wherever you get your podcasts. Just search KYMN News.
