The City of Northfield is inviting the community to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Northfield Regional Transit Hub at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24. The transit hub built out of the out railroad depot is located at 204 3rd Street West. The program will include remarks by the city representatives and community members close to the project, and an open house for people to explore the new space.
The new Transit Hub includes a pavilion that spans the area between the hub and the Northfield Historic Train Depot. The new building features two levels, one at street level and one at rail level, a waiting room, restrooms and an elevator.
The completion of the project is a culmination of efforts from many dedicated community members, volunteers, Save the Northfield Depot, and city staff to create a connection and transfer point for local and regional bus service and other transportation options.
According to a statement from the city: Hiawathaland Transit, which serves as a bus service in Northfield and Faribault, will use the Transit Hub as its Northfield hub. Hiawathaland will continue to serve its current routes with the added stop at the hub.

This includes the efforts by the Save the Northfield Depot group, which has been advocating for MnDOT to pursue passenger rail service from the Twin Cities to Kansas City with a stop in Northfield at the Historic Train Depot.
