Steve Grove, the current CEO & Publisher of the Minnesota Star Tribune, the former leader of the State Department of Employment and Economic Development, and a Northfield High School graduate, released his new book this week: How I Found Myself In The Midwest.
Tonight, Content Bookstore will be hosting an event with Grove at the Grand Events Center. Doors open for the event at 6:15 pm, with music until 7 pm. From 7 pm to 8:30 pm, Grove will read from and discuss his book, in a moderated discussion lead by th Benya Kraus, the President of the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation. Drinks will be available from the Grand this evening.
In a conversation with KYMN, Grove stated that the first ideas for this book came from an email newsletter he started with friends and colleagues in California when he moved back to Minnesota:

“And I was sort of updating them on our lives here. And I got a lot of feedback from people wanting to learn more. Frankly, a lot of people who are curious about maybe doing the same. And so that newsletter kind of grew in its list of subscribers. And helping shape my own thinking. And so I thought, gosh, maybe there’s a story here” – Steve Grove on his new book: How I Found Myself in the Midwest
Grove shared part of an optimistic message from his book:
“Don’t give in to this cynical, pessimistic view that we’re somehow all divided in this country, that there’s no hope of collaboration. I think anybody who’s worked at the local level knows that’s, a bunch of beeswax. That’s a national narrative that the national media would have you believe. But when you go local, there’s a lot of hope. And so I hope, see people see that.” – Steve Grove on his new book: How I Found Myself in the Midwest
