KYMN Radio is set to host a free “Ice Cream for Breakfast” social on Bridge Square in Northfield on the morning of July 4th, 2025, from 9am until noon.
KYMN in the Morning Show will broadcast live from Bridge Square that morning. Hosts Rich Larson, Ryan Foley, and Kristi Pursell, as well as the news will air live from 6am-9am. They will be joined by morning show regular Tim McNiff from 7:45-8:30.
Larson, who became the General Manager and owner of KYMN in 2024, said the event is meant to thank the Northfield Community for the support the radio station has received. Earlier this year, it was discovered that one of the Guy wires that holds the radio tower in place, snapped. An inspection found that all of the Guy wires had to be replaced, which would require more money than the station could afford. A plea was put out, and the Northfield Community responded with more nearly 400 donors contributing over $35,000.

There was an immediate movement to hold a “Thank You” event, and Larson decided the best way to do that would be to lean into a family tradition.

When the broadcast of the morning show concludes, a large contingent of the KYMN staff will scoop ice cream donated by Kemps, and offer root beer floats with Lift Bridge Root Beer donated by College City Beverage. There will also be a table full of toppings.
The KYMN Ice Cream for Breakfast Social will run from 9am until noon at Bridge Square in Northfield on Friday, July 4th. In case of rain, the event will move to The Grand Event Center. All are welcome
