The Northfield City Council meets tonight at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall. Their agenda, due to the holiday week, is shorter than usual and includes some annexation proposals, updates to how city boards and commissions are structured, and consideration of the Heading Home subdivision.
Council members will consider two separate annexation requests for properties in Greenvale Township—one from Thomas Sorem and another from Matthew and Shelley Langer. Both proposals align with Northfield’s long-term growth plans and would expand the city’s boundaries.
Also on the agenda is the proposed Heading Home minor subdivision, which would create new townhome lots as part of local affordable housing efforts.
The council will take a second vote on amendments to the city’s Land Development Code, specifically changes to the table of permitted uses, and is expected to approve a summary publication of the ordinance.
In new business, the council will hear the first reading of Ordinance 1081, which outlines governance updates for city boards and commissions and includes provisions related to public art funding.
